Mrs. Johnnie Ruth Despino
Funeral Services for Johnnie Ruth Despino, will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Lloyd Whitman officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Colfax under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kramer of Colfax Funeral Home; and again on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of service at Bethel Baptist Church.
Johnnie Ruth Despino, 80, of Dry Prong, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Tioga Community Care Center.
She is preceded in death by her parents John Wiley and Willie Vaye Williams; brothers, Ray Williams and Gordon Williams; and her son Bruce W. Despino.
Johnnie was born to John Wiley and Willie Vaye Williams on May 7, 1933, at Baptist Hospital in Alexandria. She worked side by side with her husband in the family business while also being a homemaker tending to her children. The most important thing in her life was the Salvation of her children; she taught and trained her children to love the Lord. Johnnie loved to sew, cook and sing. She had a beautiful voice and sang in the church choir at First Baptist Church of Dry Prong. Johnnie also loved the outdoors and going camping with her family. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She decorated every year and even won an award for the “Best Decorated Yard”. Johnnie was a most precious and dedicated woman; adored by her husband, children, family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memories include her husband John Henry Despino of Dry Prong; her three children: Rebecca S. Despino Foster and her husband James of Tioga, Dale Andrea Despino and his wife Melanie of Colfax, Gale Annett Despino McGlothlin and her husband Gary of Dry Prong; six grandchildren: Melissa M. Despino, Jeremy D. Mundy, Jason R. Mundy, Leslie Brown, Karie Hudson, and Tyler D. Despino; four great grandchildren: Porter Hudson, Gabe Hudson, Jack Clay and Sterling Cale Brown; and one sister, Nora Ann O'Neal.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Vaughn Roy Gilcrease, Jeremy Dale Mundy, Jason Ray Mundy, John Paul Tolbert, Timothy Despino, and Willie Graham Despino.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy Despino and Ronnie Despino.
