Emmons, Johnny Haywood, 58, of Garrison, Texas, died Sunday; services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hawthorn Funeral Home chapel, Carthage, Texas; burial in Waldrop Cemetery, Panola County.

Funeral services for Johnny Haywood Emmons, 58, of Garrison, were held at 2 pm on May 19, 2004, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. E.J. Adams and the Rev. Buddy Reneau officiated. Burial followed in Waldrop Cemetery. He died on May 16, 2004 in Garrison, Nacogdoches Co TX.

Johnny was born on July 19, 1945 in the Fairplay Community of Panola County, the son of Virgil Haywood and Myrtle Eleanor Scarborough Emmons. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry. He was a member of the Hughway 259 Baptist Church in Nacogdoches County. He was an ordained minister and had a prison ministry. He was a musician who could play anything with strings or keys.

Survivors include his wife Vickie of Chireno; two sons Paul Harvey Emmons of Chireno and Mark Haywood Emmons of Oklahome; three daughters Juanita Sessions and her husband Kyle of Lindale, Christy Lynn of Oklahoma and Vivian Pillows and her husband James of Wells.

Other survivors include a very special friend Ann Boatman of Garrison; special family members Glenn Boatman and wife Wendy of Garrison and Keith Boatman and wife Jennifer of Jacksonville; a brother Billy Hill Emmons of Carthage; four sisters Juanita Dean LaGrone and her husband Conway of the Deadwood Community, Mary Mixon of Huxley, JoNell LaGrone of the Deadwood Community and Nelva Jean Wallace of Henderson; ten grandchildren; special nephews Sammy Emmons, Lynn Emmons and Johnny Ray Emmons, numerous nieces, nephews and a hort of friends.

Pallbearers were Lynn Emmons, Johnny Ray Emmons, Sammy Emmons, David LaGrone, Jimmy Skinner, and Dale LaGrone. Honorary pallbearers were Roy LaGrone, Gene Sparks and Jerry Green.
