Johnny O. Masters, Jr.
(November 1, 1941 - July 6, 2008)

Funeral services for Johnny O. Masters, Jr., 66, of Vidalia, who died Sunday, July 6, 2008, at University Medical Center in Jackson, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Riverside Baptist Church in Vidalia, with Rev. Glen Harrigill and Rev. Gaylon Dawson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird funeral Home.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 8, 2008 from 5 to 9 p.m. from the church.

Mr. Masters, was born November 1, 1941, in Jonesville, the son of Johnny Oca Masters, Sr. and Blanche Ivey Masters. He was an U. S. Navy Veteran.

He is preceded in death by his father; wife, Annette Masters; son Gaylon Masters; two brothers, David Masters and Charles Masters.

He is survived by his mother Blanche Jones, of Delhi; one daughter Cathy Whatley and husband Randy of Ferriday; one brother, Wain Masters and wife Gayle; one sister Sissy Chunn and husband Gary all of Bastrop; step-son Willie Cochran of Bogalousa; nine grandchildren, Johnny Bo Roberts of Houston, Brian David Whatley and wife Nora of Seabrook, TX, Greg Whatley of Louisiana, Mike Ferguson, Jr., and wife Michelle of Shreveport, Kyle Cochran of Bogalousa, Tabetha Whatley, Colby Whatley both of Texas, Angel Cochran and Anthony Cochran both of Bogalousa; great-grandchildren, Jayne, Bo, Cheyenne, Aidan, Laylon, Landon, Dawson and Baby Taylor; numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; a life time of friends whom he treated as family.

Pallbearers will be Brian Whatley, Mike Ferguson, Louis Calhoun, Travis Masters, Ty Ferrell, Jason Roberson, Richard Butler, and Tommy Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Carl O. Porter, Garfield Braswell, Stanley Dawson, E. J. Conner, Carlos Peavey, Owen Hays, Wayne Finley, Jeff Wisner, Bobby White, Prentiss Graves, Bo Truly, Alton Hall and Bobby Cox.

Memorials may be made to Natchez Children's Home or a charity of choice.
