Reverend Jolia “Joey” Wayne Bignar
October 25, 1942 - August 11, 2017

Reverend Jolia “Joey” Wayne Bignar, age 74 of Jonesboro, was called to his home with the Lord Friday, August 11, 2017. Brother Joey was a native of Jena, Louisiana and served in the National Guard. He ministered and pastored for 46 years serving at Springhill Baptist Church in Grayson, La., Willow Bayou in Tallulah, La., Standard Baptist Church in Olla, La., McDonald Memorial Baptist in Jonesboro, La. and Center Point Baptist in Jonesboro, La. He had recently retired and became a member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro.

Friends may visit with the family 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel, 228 Allen Avenue in Jonesboro. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday at Jonesboro First Baptist Church with Reverends Wayne Morrow, Terry Mims, Brian McAllister, Donald Lemmons and Dennis Bignar officiating. Interment will follow at Tidwell Landing Cemetery near Nebo, Louisiana under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Brother Bignar is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patsy Martin Bignar; daughter, Sandy Joynor & Gary; grandchildren, Brandon Joynor & Elizabeth and Katelyn Joynor; sisters-in-law Linda Bignar, Eliazbeth Bignar; brother-in-law who was like a brother to him, Reverend Donald Doughty; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding Brother Bignar in death were his parents, William Thomas Bignar & Mary Elizabeth (Hudnall) Bignar; brothers, Leon Bignar, Sr., Leland Bignar, John “Toke” Bignar; sisters, Georgia Cannon, Inez Keene, Laverne Cannon, Jimmie Doughty.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers, Danny Bignar, Jeff Doughty, Jamie Bignar, Darren Bignar, Joshua Martin, Dr. Jeff Martin, Reverend Jeremy Martin, Sidney Cannon. Honorary pallbearers will be all other nephews
