Joseph E. Beavers Dies at His Home; Rites held Monday
Joseph Edward Beavers, 87, for the past 22 years a resident of the Belah
community, Route 1, Trout, died at his home Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock.
Funeral services for the retired farmer were held Monday afternoon at the
Belah Methodist church with the Revs. G. A. Pritchard, Paul Long and S. B.
Spinks conducting the funeral services. Interment followed in the Belah
cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena.
Mr. Beavers is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nancy Beavers of Belah; four
daughters, Mrs. Viola Peavy, Mrs. Myra Lofton, Mrs. Vera Thompson and Mrs.
Armer Corley, all of Route 1, Trout; four sons, Ira of Pollock, Howard of
Baton Rouge and Ivy and Arley, both of Route 1, Trout; 37 grandchildren and 55
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The officiating ministers also conducted graveside rites, with C. C. Beavers,
Alvin Lofton, Calton Lofton, Welby Peavy, Edward Thornton and Alton Lofton
serving as pallbearers.
