Joseph W. Cato
Joseph W. Cato, 87, of McComb, died Feb. 26, 2005, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. Visitation is 11 a.m. Monday until 3 p.m. services at Hartman Funeral Home in McComb. The Rev. Charles Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mr. Cato was born July 15, 1917, in Yazoo City. He was the son of James White Cato and Vira Cato. He owned and operated CatoÆs Shoe Shop with his wife for 60 years. Family members said he loved his work. He was a member of J.J. White Memorial Presbyterian Church, the VFW and United Commercial Travelers. He was an Army veteran of World War II where he served for five years. His family said he was a good father and loving husband for 63 years.
Mr. Cato was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Earl Cato.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen Cato of McComb one son, James W. Cato of McComb a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Audrey and Woody Wilson a sister-in-law, Elease Deer a cousin, Sister Clair Marie Cato of Chatawa nieces, Judy Cato and Judy Hood and husband Jim, all of San Antonio, Texas, Catharine Cato of Atlanta, Patricia Tamborello and husband Patrick of Houston, Texas and a nephew, David Cato and wife Catherine of San Antonio.
Pallbearers will be James W. Cato, Billy Nunnery, Randy Brownell, Billy McInnis, Hubert Deer and Kenny Gatlin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the J.J. White Memorial Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
