MANSFIELD, LA - Funeral services for Joseph (Clem) Childress, 78, will be 2 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2003 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Jimmy Reynolds, Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. Bob Latham, Pastor of Lakeside Baptist Church. Burial will be at Wallace Cemetery, Pelican, LA. Family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning Sunday, February 16, 2003 from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
Mr. Childress was born in Pelican, LA and passed away Saturday, February 15, 2003 in Mansfield, LA. He was retired from the oil field. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice K. Childress.
Survivors include six sons, Henry Childress of Longansport, LA, Wayne Childress and wife Paula of Converse, LA, Raymond Childress and wife Frances of Shreveport, Thomas Childress, Richard Childress and wife Pennie of Mansfield, LA and Larry Childress and wife Tammy of Kansas City, MO; five daughters, Mary Modisette and husband Ken of Longview, TX, Betty L. Collins of Keithville, LA, Lisa Thornton and husband Richard of Tenaha, TX, Betty S. Smith and husband Steve of Tenaha, TX and Tammy Richards of Center, TX; 20 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one brother, M.B. Childress of Benton, LA and one half brother, George James Raborn of Mansfield, LA and one sister, Virginia Spencer of Fayetteville, AR.
