Funeral Services Held For J. H. Gipson, 86

Columbia, Tenn., Jan. 18. --(Spl)-- J. H. Gipson, 86, Confederate soldier, died at 3:45 o'clock Thursday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. T. B. Bryant. He had been ill for two weeks.

Mr. Gipson was born and reared in East Tennessee but came to Maury county when a young man and had made his home here since. He is survived by Mrs. T. B. Bryant, of Columbia; W. J. Gipson, of Ridley's Station, and Mrs. T. M Tyree, of Marshall county.

He served four years in the Confederate army and was wounded at the battle of Petersburg.

Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Smyrna church, by Elder B. F. Harding and Elder J. S. Batey, of Lewisburg. Burial was in the Haynes cemetery.
