Joe Smith
Funeral services were held Sunday in the Sowers Memorial chapel, Tuttle, for Joe Smith, with Scott Hurston & Rev James Stewart officiating. A double quartet provided the music.
Joseph Henry Smith was born 8/26/1906 at DeQueen, Ark, and died 9/15/1967 of a heart attack. He came, with his parents, to Oklahoma about 1933, settling at Tuttle. He spent the remainder of his life here except for his service in the Army in WWII from Dec 1942 to Oct, 15, 1945. He was married to Blanche Park in 1943 at Antlers, OK.
Pallbearers were Thurman Thompson, J.W. Ratckiffe Jr, Loyd Watt, Lige Whatley, Horace Potter, & Henry Klippel.
Survivors are his wife, Blanche, his mother, Mrs. George E. Smith of Tuttle, his sister, Mrs. Ima Smith of Newcastle, three brothers, G.E. of Tuttle, Earnest of Oklahoma City, & J.R. of Lubbock, TX, a step-son, Jimmy Lee Jones of California & New York.
Interment was in the Tuttle Fairview cemetery.
