JOSEPH LEE MCCARTY SR.

Joseph Lee McCarty Sr., 75, of Ellisville, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, of heart failure.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Ellisville, with burial in Ellisville Cemetery. The Rev. Dave Moran will officiate.

He was a member of Pecan Grove Baptist Church and was a lifelong resident of Jones County. He retired from the Masonite Corp. after 30 years. He was a deacon and choir member of Pecan Grove Church. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion and a Mason of the Laurel Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Nellie McCarty.

He is survived by his wife, Marion Knipp McCarty of Ellisville; two sons, Joseph Lee McCarty Jr. of Jackson and Brian McCarty of Ovett; a daughter, Kim Woodlief of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; a sister, Hazel Mayo of Pascagoula; and four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Pecan Grove Baptist Church Building Fund.

Pallbearers will be Sammy Shows, L.D. Stewart, Sam Stewart, Eddie Lowery, Travis Pitts, Buddy Lambert and deacons of Pecan Grove Baptist Church.

Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Butler, Mark Stringfellow and Eddie Walters.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Ellisville, which is in charge of arrangements.
