Husband Of The Former Brazzie Machen Succumbs

Funeral services for Joseph Schuessler Maddox, 64, former resident of Winnfield and Shreveport, who resided in Valdosta, Ga., and died there February 9, after a long illness, were held in Shreveport February 12. He was the husband of the former Miss Brazzie Machen of Winnfield.

Dr. J. Frank Alexander, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport, officiated at the services and burial was in Forest Park Cemetery with military rites.

Mr. Maddox, who moved to Valdosta from Shreveport 20 years ago, was president of Tri-State Motors while a resident of Shreveport. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific where he attained the rank of major.

Besides his widow, he leaves one daughter, one sister, and one grandson.

Attending the funeral from Winnfield were Mr. and Mrs. Otis Machen and Mrs. Zelma Kiely.
