Joseph Michael Holmes

Funeral services for Joseph Michael Holmes, 34, of Grayson were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 1996 from the chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home in Columbia with Bob McIlwain officiating. Interment followed in the Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson.

Michael, known as “Peanut” by his friends and “Uncle Nut” by his family, was born on October 14, 1961 in Caldwell Parish and died Saturday, September 7, 1996 at the Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe.

He was a diesel engineer with Canal Barge Company, and worked as a truck driver for several logging contractors. He was also a member of the Grayson Baptist Church in Grayson. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Morrow Holmes.

Survivors include: his wife, Donna Ellerbee Holmes; his son, Justin Kade Ellerbee-Girod; his daughter, Jessica Katherine Ellerbee-Girod, all of Grayson; his mother, Jimmie Layne Prudhomme Quinn of Monroe; his brothers, Lynn Holmes and Gary Holmes, both of Clarks; and his sister, Lisa Holmes Anderson of West Monroe.

Pallbearers were: Ronnie Stamper, Douglas Stamper, Johnny Stamper, Roy Dale Kenworthy, Greg Lewellyan, Earl Rowland, Jim Rowland, and John Hect.
