Joseph Darbonne Sr.

Joseph Norris Darbonne Sr. was 72, a resident of Gonzales and a native of Port Barre. He was a painter by trade and served in the U.S. Navy.

Visitation was at Sibille Funeral Home, Opelousas, Thursday with recitation of the rosary and on Friday. Mass of Christian Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Port Barre, Friday, conducted by the Rev. Nicky Trahan.

He is survived by his former wife, Jacquelyn Crum; three sons, Dean Raymond Darbonne and wife Patricia of Villa Rica, Ga., and Patrick and Joseph N. Darbonne, both of Gonzales; stepson, Rory Hood; stepdaughter, Sherie Hulsey Lynn; five brothers, Clifford and Edwin Darbonne, both of Opelousas, James Darbonne of Walker, Leon Darbonne of Gonzales, and Joseph Seville Darbonne of Arnaudville; two sisters, Mrs. W.A. (Sylvia) Pierce of Port Barre and Mrs. Paul (Leona) D'ecapo of Melville; three grandchildren, Brittney, Brennen and Casie Darbonne; and two stepgrandchildren, Victor Silvio and Brandon Plaunche.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Earnestine Kidder Darbonne; parents, Clef Louis and Hellen Wheaton Darbonne; daughter, Wanda Lynn Darbonne; and two sisters, Mrs. Wilson (Lillian) Bourque and Mrs. M.J. (Hellen Louise) Matte.

He was a member of the Atomic Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Port Sulphur and Port Barre. He loved to fish with his sons.
