DERIDDER (Spl.) -- Funeral services for J. B. Payne, 44, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Wesley Methodist church with Rev. Raymond Crofoot, pastor, and Rev. Robert Jamieson officiating.

Burial will be in Beauregard cemetery under direction of Hixson funeral home.

He had been central office repairman for the Southern Bell Telephone company for 20 years.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ollie Payne; one daughter, Miss Joanna Payne; his mother, Mrs. J. B. Payne Sr. of Ruston; four sisters, Mrs. Raymond Caldin [sic Colvin] of Ruston, Mrs. Earl Hamm and Mrs. C. J. Strong, both of West Monroe, and Mrs. J. B. Hemperly of Alexandria; and one brother, Rev. J. O. Payne of Winnfield.

J. B. Payne, Jr., 45, Dodson Native, Dies In DeRidder

Joe B. Payne, 45, native of Dodson, now a resident of DeRidder, died unexpectedly Monday, suffering a heart attack while driving his car along the Leesville highway.

Mr. Payne was a charter member of the Wesley Methodist Church in DeRidder and served as a member of the official board and as a trustee. He was the brother of Rev. J. O. Payne, pastor of the South Winnfield Baptist Church, and the son of Mrs. Joe B. Payne, Sr., of Dodson.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist Church in DeRidder with interment in the Beauregard Cemetery.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ollie Cole Payne, DeRidder; one daughter, Joanna Payne, DeRidder; his mother, Mrs. J. B. Payne, Sr., Dodson; one brother, Rev. J. O. Payne, Winnfield; four sisters, Mrs. Raymond Colvin, Ruston, Mrs. L. B. Hemperley, Pineville, Mrs. Earl Hamm, and Mrs. C. J. Strong, both of Monroe.
