J. P. Hawthorn[e], 36, Shoots Self, Dies at Hospital Here

J. P. Hawthorn[e], 36, of Georgetown, La., died at 4:20 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Baptist Hospital here from a gun shot wound in his head, which his son, Alvin Hawthorn[e], said was self-inflicted early yesterday morning at his home in Georgetown.

Hawthorn[e] was rushed to the Baptist Hospital here and died yesterday afternoon. Dr. A. J. Morat, Grant parish coroner, came here last night and conducted an investigation before the body was taken to the family residence at Georgetown last night.

He is survived by his wife and six children, Alvin, J. P., Jr., Wallace, Lloyd, Anderson and Bobby Roy; three brothers, J. W. Hawthorn[e], R. W. [sic B. W.] Hawthorn[e], R. B. Hawthorn[e], of Georgetown; two sisters, Mrs. Esther McWhorter of Texas; Mrs. E. R. Mulligan of Winnsboro, La.

Funeral services were conducted at the home at noon today by Rev. R. M. Faulk, pastor of the Georgetown Methodist Church. Interment was made in Georgetown Cemetery under the direction of the Kramer funeral home of Alexandria.

GEORGETOWN NEWS

This community was shocked by the suicidal death of Peach Hawthorne last week. The family's friends here express their deepest sympathy for them. Many out-of-town people attended the funeral.
