Joseph P. Emmons

Joseph P. Emmons, 63, of 420 Springfield Circle died Tuesday at home. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home with burial in Lakewood Memorial park.

Emmons was a native of Scott County and had lived in Jackson since 1945. He was associated with the Jackson Police Department for 22 years and after his retirement was a deputy sheriff with the Hinds County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II, serving in Europe with the Army. He was a life member and former adjutant of the American Legion Post 1, 40 et 8 and Robert C. Nail Post 687 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jewell Vaughn Emmons; daughters, Mrs. Harold (Vickie) Lee of Philadelphia and Mrs. Clyde B. (Mary) Phillips of Corinth; sons, Joseph P. Emmons Jr. of Orlando, Fla., John L. Emmons of Corinth and Kelley Emmons of Lafayette, La.; sister, Mrs. Ralph (Mildred) Pearson of Jackson; and two grandchildren.
