DATE OF DEATH: 9/8/04 Wednesday of a long illness in Kaufman, Tx.

BORN: June 24, 1921, San Augustine, Texas to Samuel Elton & Ida May Willis Roper.

He served in the U. S. Navy dunng WWII on the USS Nashville in the Pacific, after returning from the Navy he began a distinguished career in the insurance industry. President of Dealers National Ins. Co., Vice President of Texas General Ins. Co. He was an active member of Insurance Accounting & Systems Association (IASA) a board member of National Association of Independent Insurers (NAJI). He served 10 year period as chairman of Texas Automobile Ins. Plan (TAIP). He was a member of Federation of Insurance Council. In addition to his career he was a leader at First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for 25 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of Oak Cliff Country Club as well as a lifetime member of Tannehill Masonic Lodge, Hella Temple, Scottish Rite of Free Masonary, Dallas, Tx.

SURVIVED BY: Wife of 62 years, Virginia Owen Roper -Canton, Tx. Son & Daughter-in-law, Bob & Suzan Roper - Dallas, Tx. Brother & Sister-in-law: Kenneth D. & Winnie Roper - Hilltop Lakes, Tx. Sister & Brother-in-law: Mane & Matt Matthew - Summerville, Missouri.
