Joseph J. Vigilante

A Mass for Joseph J. Vigilante, 87, of Morris Plains will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow in St. Virgil's Church, Morris Plains, after the funeral from the Doyle Funeral Home, 106 Maple Ave., Morristown.

Mr. Vigilante, who died Sunday in Morristown Memorial Hospital, was a salesman with Federal Wine and Liquor in Kearny for 42 years before retiring in 1988. He also owned and taught at a dance studio in Morristown.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Watnong Post 3401, Morris Plains.

Mr. Vigilante was a fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 3495, Msgr. John J. Shearin Assembly of Morristown. He was a former Morris Plains Civil Defense director.

Born in Morristown, he moved to Morris Plains 46 years ago.

Surviving are Velma D., his wife of 56 years; daughters, Beverly Insull, Saundra Martis and Joanne Pepper; a son, Joseph Jr.; a brother, Arthur; a sister, Theresa Fumei; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
