Mrs. Josephine Laura McCorvey Bruce
JOSEPHINE LAURA McCORVEY BRUCE passed away Wednesday, January 24, at the age of 90 in Pasadena, Texas.
Josephine was born December 8, 1927, in Dallas, Texas to Willis Eagleton and Minnie Lee McCorvey. She was a lifetime homemaker, with a short stint early in life as a secretary. She outlived three husbands, John Emmons, J D Moses and Grady Bruce. After her first marriage she returned to Galena Park, Texas, where she had attended High School and remained the rest of her life there, close to family members. In her later years she was both a participant, as well as a volunteer at Heritage Hall Senior Center in Jacinto City, Texas, her home away from home. At the Hall she was presented with several certificates of appreciation for her devoted and invaluable service there as well as from the Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Donald, Neal, Elwood, Raymond and Allan; sisters Zelle, Edith and Margaret.
She is survived by her son Melvin Emmons and wife Crissie, two grandchildren, Mike Emmons and Michelle Emmons Bagley, three great grandchildren, Amelia Bagley, Isaac Bagley and Bret Bagley, along with several nieces and nephews, and her “Hall Family” friends.
Visitation will be at San Jacinto Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 29, followed directly by the funeral services at 10:30 a.m. A brief graveside service will be held at the adjacent San Jacinto Memorial Park.
