Josie F. Gaar

Mrs. Josie F (Austin) Gaar, age 99 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011, at the Winn Parish Medical Center in Winnfield.

Born Friday, November 3, 1911 in Dodson, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Austin and the late Mary Eula (Hearn) Austin. She was the wife of the late James Edwin Gaar. She was also preceded in death by brothers, W. J. Austin, Evin Austin, Lonnie Austin, J. B. Austin and Johnny Austin, sisters, Eva B. Thompson, Zelma Donaldson, Vera Deloney, Laura McCain, Zela Shivers and Maggie Walker.

Surviving are her son, Douglas E. Gaar of Dodson, LA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield with Bro. Loy Gaar officiating. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery near Dodson, LA.

Donnie Austin, Mike Austin, Leroy James, David James, Robert Johns, and Ronnie Paul McCain will serve as pallbearers. Johnny Rachal will be an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 11, 2011 and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield.
