Joy Laverne Twomey
Funeral services for Mrs. Joy Laverne Twomey, age 82, of the Old Center Community will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Barney Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Twomey passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2006 in Longview, Texas.
Joy Laverne Kyle Twomey was born November 18, 1923 in the Old Center Community to Greenie and Adelia Shoffner Kyle. She married Delbert L. Twomey on July 4, 1940 in the Old Center Community. She loved to play bingo, sew, and quilt. Mrs. Twomey was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking, tending her garden, and taking care of her family. She lived her lifetime in Panola County and was of the Church of Christ faith.
Mrs. Twomey was preceded in death by her husband and by two sons, Mark and Vernon Twomey. Mrs. Twomey is survived by her daughter-in-law, Louise Twomey of Carthage; two sons, Robert Twomey and wife Betty of Old Center and Henry Twomey and wife Patricia of Old Center; two daughters, Martha Jane Gallenbach and husband Tom of Old Center and Joy Nan Powell and husband Larry of Carthage; one sister, Betty Wilbur of Hampshire, Texas; special sister-in-law, Bessie Kyle of Longview; ten grandchildren, Shannon Twomey, Shonda Russell and husband Gary, J.D. Twomey and wife Bridget, Dana Jackson, Angie Vera and husband Jose, Kenny Williams and wife Mandy, Amanda Twomey, Jonathan Twomey and wife Crissy, Chris Powell and wife Brandi, Melissa Atkerson and husband Mark; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Shannon Twomey, J.D. Twomey, Jose Vera, Kenny Williams, Jonathan Twomey, Chris Powell, Mark Atkerson, and Gary Russell.
