SHREVEPORT - Services for Mrs. Joy Gipson Emmons, 65, of Shreveport and Bossier City, La., will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday May 31 at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel. Dr. William E. Hull, pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate, assisted by Dr. Gregory L. Hunt, associate pastor of the church. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery.
Visitation: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday until service time.
Mrs. Emmons died Thursday, May 29, 1986, at Schumpert Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born in Bossier City and had been a resident of Shreveport for sixty years. She was a housewife and member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught adult and children's Sunday school. Mrs. Emmons was a graduate of Bossier High School and Norton Business College.
Mrs. Emmons was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David F. Gipson.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip B. Emmons of Shreveport; one son, John D. Emmons of Bossier City, La.; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret E. Lemon of McGregor, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Maxine Terrell of Bossier City; one grandson, Jason Emmons.
Pallbearers will be Reet T. Lawhon, Edmond M. Stevens, Langston H. McEachern, W. Tyler Pirtie, James B. Bolton, Sr. and Newt Hielscher.
