Julia Barnes
Mrs. Julia Catherine Barbour Barnes, age 85, of Four Oaks, passed away peacefully at Johnston Memorial Hospital, on Tuesday, May 20, 2008. She was preceded in death
by husband, Willis Lester Barnes.
Surviving family are, son, Larry Tucker Barnes and wife Brenda of Four Oaks. Daughters, Judy Barnes Buckner and husband Norman Bruce of Elkin and Jennifer Barnes McGrail and husband Tony of Raleigh. Grandchildren, Susan Festa and husband Chris, Rachael Buckner, Joanna Buckner Whitney and husband William and Beau Hall.
Great-Grandchildren, Marissa and Lauren Festa. Sisters, Beulah Creech and Polly Byrd, both of Four Oaks. Brother, Tom Barbour of Smithfield. Many loved Nieces and Nephews.
Mrs. Barnes was a founding charter member of Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church and devoted her life to loving and serving that church. She was known for her cooking and baking skills. Anyone who entered her home shared the bounty of her kitchen and left with a serving to take home for later.

Funeral service will be on Friday, May 23, 2008, at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Minshew Funeral Home with the Revs. Bob Copeland and John Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Four Oaks Cemetery. Visitation is from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. prior to the service.
