Julia Day
Day, Julia H. 88, passed away September 14, 2010 in Austin, Texas.
Julia was born on November 24, 1921 in Seagoville, Texas to William D. and Daisy Hawthorne. She grew up in the Dallas area with her older brother William D. Hawthorne, Jr., graduating from Garland High School. She worked for Higginbotham-Bailey in downtown Dallas prior to her marriage to Lester Day in 1946. She and Lester had two sons and lived in Dallas, Lubbock, Albuquerque and Los Angeles. She held Real Estate licenses in both Texas and California and worked for Day Realty in Southern California during the 1970's.
In 1985, they moved to Newport Beach, CA where they made their home until the death of her husband 6 years ago. She continued to reside in Newport Beach until October of 2009 when she moved to Austin, Texas.
She fought bravely against a series of illnesses including renal cancer for 10 months, surviving against all odds. She will be remembered as a strong woman, caring, loving and devoted to her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons Michael Day and Wm. S. Day, daughter in law Georgia, two grandchildren, Vanessa and Melissa, great-grandson Brandon, nephew Paul Hawthorne, sisters-in-law Margie Sorrels and Anna Mae Boozer and a host of cousins.
Funeral service will be at 12:30PM Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Restland Wildwood Chapel, with Visitation beginning at 10AM. Internment following all in her beloved Dallas, Texas.
