Julia Judd Johnson

Julia Judd Johnson, a resident of Baton Rouge since 1949, died at her home on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010. She was 87 and a native of Mangham.

Mrs. Johnson graduated from LSU, where she was a member of Delta Omicron music fraternity and Phi Kappa Phi. She taught music in the public schools in Minden and Baton Rouge and was also a private piano teacher in Baton Rouge for many years. Together with her husband, she was instrumental in beginning music programs at several area churches, including Broadmoor Baptist, which was her church home. A member of the Baton Rouge Music Club Auxiliary for more than 50 years, Mrs. Johnson was also an active member and officer of the Ex Libris Book Club.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Lars G. Johnson; parents, Thomas Allen and Isabell Gwin Judd; and brother, Thomas G. Judd.

Survived by her daughter, Jennifer Johnson, of Baton Rouge; sisters-in-law, Mildred Davenport Johnson, of Shreveport, and Ruth Delcomyn Judd, of Ruston; nephews, Dr. Kim Judd, of Shreveport, and his wife, Debra, Byron Judd, of Ruston, and his wife, Cathy, and Jeff Robinson, of Midlothian, Va., and his wife, Judy; nieces, Marilyn Johnson King, of Shreveport, Jane Robinson Watson, of Powhatan, Va., and her husband, Dan, and Marsha Johnson Enterline, of Dayton, Ohio; great-nephews, Craig Robinson, of Powhatan, and his wife, Heather, Richard King, of Fort Worth, Texas, Eric Judd of Birmingham, Ala., and Charles Judd, of Shreveport; great-nieces, Alicia King Akins, of McKinley, Texas, and her husband, Paul, Sarah Enterline, of Ashland, Mass., Lara Watson Campbell, of Signal Mountain, Tenn., and her husband, Steve, Elise Judd Nicaud, of Gainesville, Fla., and her husband, Mark, Claire Enterline, of Portland, Maine, Rebecca Watson, of Denver, and Ansley and Rachel Judd, both of Ruston; and great-great-niece, Brooke Campbell, of Signal Mountain.

Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Wednesday, Jan. 6, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitation at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 9755 Goodwood Blvd., on Thursday, Jan. 7, from noon until religious service at 1 p.m. Entombment in Greenoaks Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be Kim Judd, Byron Judd, Jeff Robinson, Dan Watson, David Ellis and Luke Porterfield.

In lieu of flowers, any memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, Broadmoor Baptist Church or the organization of the donor's choice.
