Julius Bird

Funeral services for Julius V. Bird Sr., 67, were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jim Rhodes officiated. Burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mr. Bird died Thursday at his residence on West Panola Street. He was a member of a prominent pioneer Panola County family and was a retired insurance salesman.

Survivors include one son, Julius V. Bird Jr. of Duncanville; one daughter, Mrs. Janis Peterson of White Oak; one brother, L. K. (Buddy) Bird of Carthage; one sister, Mrs. Coila Crawford of Carthage, and six grandchildren.
