Mrs. Karen Dean Smith
Mrs. Karen Dean Smith, of Lake Wales, Florida died Thursday, July 8, 1993, at her home, following a brief illness.
She was born October 7, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to Lake Wales, Florida, 17 years ago from Rivals, Kentucky. She and her husband lived in his home town of Ruston from 1959 - 1968.
She was a public health nurse with the Polk County Health Dept. She served in the U.S. Peace Corp[s] from 1964-1966 in Malaysia and was currently active with the Heart to Honduras Missionary Program. Memberships include the Lake Wales Chorale, a founding member of the Lake Wales area Good Shepherd Hospice, and active with the First Presbyterian Church in the Thursday Night Circle, Seekers Sunday School Class, and Chancel Choir.
She leaves a loving family: her husband, Charles R. ``Charlie'' Smith; two daughters, Felicia Marie Smith and Anne-Marie Smith all of Lake Wales, Fla.; one sister, Linda Kneeburg of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one brother, Alan Stone of Washington, D.C.; and her parents, Dean and Ruth Stone of Riverview, Fla.

Graveside funeral services will be Sunday, July 11, 1993, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lake Wales Cemetery. Memorial services will be later that day at the First Presbyterian Church at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. David M. Rockness officiating.
