Mrs. Kate Whitten

RAYVILLE (Special) -- Mrs. Kate Edna Whitten, 75, of Start, died today at her home after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Whitten was a lifelong resident of Start and a member of the Start Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Start Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Saunders and Rev. Willie Woodard officiating.

Burial will be in the New Salem Cemetery at Girard under the direction of Rayville Funeral Service.

Survivors include her husband, Burris Whitten of Start; six sons, Davie Whitten, Ovin Hardwick, and Billy Whitten, all of Start, Damon Whitten of Wisner, Namon Whitten of Oak Grove, and Clyde Hardwick of Rayville; four daughters, Mrs. Jeff Davis and Mrs. Frank Hollingsworth, both of Start, Mrs. C. A. Hollingsworth of West Monroe, and Mrs. A. J. Schwartz of Rayville; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Watts of Start and Mrs. Bell Robinson of Bastrop; 30 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Henry Cole, Otto Parker, Cole Davis, Hamp Henry, Carl Copeland and Theo Griffith.

The body will remain at the family residence until time for services.
