WHITTINGTON, KATHERINE “KITTY” BEEBE
Katherine “Kitty” BeeBe Whittington, 79 passed away on January 8, 2015, peacefully with her children closely at her side. “Kitty” was born October 3, 1935 to Jeffie & Mary Beebe in Monroe, Louisiana. Mrs. Whittington spent her childhood in West Monroe, LA where she was a member of Southside Methodist Church.
She was a loving, caring and compassionate wife and mother. She was a mentor, a friend and a mother who absolutely adored her children in every way. They will most remember Mom by her love, support and strength she gave them throughout the years. Kitty worked at Monroe Optical before coming to Jacksonville in 1986, to Optiworld. Family was her true passion though, and if you weren't related that didn't matter, she would accept you and love you as one her own. Some of Kitty's most desired passions where of course her children which she was always so proud of and concerned for as a true Mother does. She took pleasure in others joy. She loved working in the yard, dancing and singing. She was never at a loss for words to a song as she would make them up as she went along. She loved the beauty and ambiance of the hummingbird and found peace looking out over her backyard at the wonders of God's work.
Kitty is Preceded in death by her late husband: “Papa” Ed Whittington, Daughter: Patricia Whittington; Son: Robert Whittington.
She is survived by her first husband, Aldon Whittington and children- Sons; Mark (Sharon), Michael, Bradley and Bill Whittington. Daughters: Kathy Hamilton, Cindy Meyer and Linda (Mitch) Farrell. Sisters: Jean (Jack) Sturgis, Joyce (Ron) May and as Mom would say “A Slew” of Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends to cherish her memory forever. Mom will be greatly missed and never forgotten for her many ways of showing how much she loved and cared for her family as well as others was a true testament to God's work.
