Katherine Smith Stovall
(November 21, 1919 - October 5, 2010)

Mrs. Katherine Smith Stovall, age 90, of Crockett, TX and previously of Carthage, TX, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2010, in the Whitehall Nursing Center in Crockett.

She was born November 21, 1919, in West Monroe, LA and resided in Carthage for many years also living in Clarksville. Mrs. Stovall was a member of the Jr. League of Carthage, where she had served as Chairman and was instrumental in the opening of the first Library in Carthage, the Garden Club of Carthage, First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a homemaker and a librarian.

Survivors include her sons, Dr. John Stovall and wife, Sidney, of Crockett, TX, Rev. William G. ``Bill'' Stovall and wife, Kathryn, of Archer, NE, Robert D. ``Bob'' Stovall and wife, Patti, of Lake Dallas, TX and Perry Stovall and wife, Beverly, of Rockwall, TX; grandchildren, John M. (Jay) Stovall III, Andrew Lambert, Gregg Stovall and wife, Claudia, Michael Stovall and wife, Rami, Chris Johnson and husband, Ricky, John Jurrius and wife, Dee, Doug Jurrius and wife, Cindy, Zunie Stovall, Millecint Stovall Grove and husband, Randal, William G. Stovall, Jr. and wife, Jennifer, Robert Daniel Stovall II, Dawn Michele Stovall, Kim Stovall, Carson Garrison and wife, Brandi, Angela Cochran and husband, Ron, Brittany Cavender and Daniel Stovall; great-grandchildren, Marshall Stovall, Walker Stovall, Justin Stovall, Samantha Woolverton and husband, Josh, Julie Johnson and Rock Conner, Jimmy Johnson, Jennifer Jurrius, John Crockett Jurrius, Madison Jurrius, Melissa Ball, Brittany Ball, Ryan Jurrius, Scott Jurrius, Kevin Jurrius, Mahlon Grove, Truman Grove, Lindsay Grove, William Gaar Stovall III, Alexander Daniel Stovall, Malcolm Taylor Stovall, Will Cochran, Kate Cochran and Marlee Skyee Stovall; great-great grandchildren, Nicholas Woolverton and Cash Conner; brother, J. P. Daniel and wife, Marilyn of West Monroe, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jonathan Mahlon Stovall; parents, Joseph Daniel and Cora Holman Daniel; brothers, Omar Daniel, H. G. (Sonny) Daniel and Perry Daniel; and sister, Vivian Dedell.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stovall will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2010, in the Chapel of Osborn Funeral Home with Rev. William Stovall officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 on Thursday morning prior to the service time.

Pallbearers will be David McCarty, Dan McCarty, Gary Ferguson, David Ferguson, Lonnie Fouts and Steve Stovall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the local United Methodist Church of Choice.
