Katherine Davenport

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Katherine Rose Davenport, 78, died January 27, 1996, at her residence in Baton Rouge.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. today in Hollywood Cemetery, with the Rev. Rick Kennedy officiating. Hartman Funeral Home of McComb was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Davenport was born Feb. 2, 1917, in San Diego. She was the daughter of K.R. Lee and Irene Rosenbaum Lee.

She was reared in McComb before returning to California, where she retired from AT&T in Los Angeles as a telephone operator and owned and operated a small hotel in the Los Angeles area. She moved to Baton Rouge after retiring in 1985 and attended Foster Road Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd Davenport; grandparents, Manton and Cornelia Lee; and an infant sister.

She is survived by one brother, Richard Lee James of McComb; several cousins including Valerie and Edwin Bailey of Baton Rouge; and several nieces and nephews, including Anna James Lambert and Chuck Lambert of McComb.
