Kathryn Gates Duett

Funeral services for Kathryn Gates Duett will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2008 in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Bill Hines and Stephen Laughlin officiating. Committal services will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery under the guidance of White Oaks, Oakdale.

Mrs. Duett, 94, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 in Lake Arthur. She was born on October 14, 1913 in Trout to Martin Luther and Indie Gates. She graduated from Northwestern State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and minors in English and History; a Member of the Honor Society-Sigma, Sigma Chi and a member of the "Purple Jacket Club" (Special honor society).

Kathryn was a pianist for the First Baptist Church in Oakdale for 60 years, Public School Music Supervisor for 5 years, Private Piano Teacher for 15 years and an English Teacher at the Oakdale High School for 15years.

Her beloved husband of 58 years, Paul R. Duett precedes her in death. Paul and Kathryn each served the Lord for many years.

She leaves behind her loving family to cherish her memory, one son, Luther Duett and wife Dora of Eagle, Colorado; one daughter, Sandra Broussard and husband Larry of Lake Arthur; one sister, Evelyn Holladay of Oakdale; three grand daughters, Ann Emmette and husband George of Avon, Colorado, Kalanie Newman and husband Milfred of Sulphur, Moriah Dugar and husband Eric of Lafayette; one great-granddaughter, Sage Emmette of Avon, Colorado, and many niece and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Milfred Newman, Brian Thompson, Casey Gordon, Cory Gordon, Jarod Simpson and Brian Simpson.

The family will be receiving friends on Friday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until time of service in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel.
