Kenneth E. McCarty, 72, of Collins, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at Covington County Hospital in Collins. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Willow Grove Baptist Church in Collins, with burial in the church cemetery. He was retired from GMO and IC Railroad after 39 years.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel McCarty of Collins; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Wayne and Aberdean McCarty of Bogue Chitto, Charles and Ann McCarty of Summit and Larry McCarty of Collins; one daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Chris Fields of Collins; five sisters, Gertrude Smith, Loretta Loftin and Ann Adams, all of Collins, Gloria June Loftin of Seminary and Earlene Smith of Poplarville; two brothers, Burnette McCarty and Bobby McCarty, both of Hattiesburg; five grandchildren, Abby McCarty, Crystal McCarty, Cliff McCarty, John McCarty and Neal McCarty; and his faithful canine companion, Merle.
The body will be placed in the church at 9 a.m., Thursday. Visitation will be held from 5:30-9 p.m. today, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins, which is in charge of arrangements.
