Kenneth E. Marble

Kenneth Edwin Marble, 67, died Monday, September 8, 2008, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Visitation is 10 am today at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street in downtown Jackson. Funeral services are immediately following visitation at 11 am in the Chapel. A private, family graveside will take place on the farm on which Mr. Marble was born and lived until his death.

Kenneth E. Marble was born on February 12, 1941, in Terry, Hinds County, Mississippi. He played football and graduated from Terry High School. He attended Hinds Community College Raymond Campus and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Mississippi College. Following graduation, he began a 25 year career with the United States Department of Agriculture. Upon retirement, Mr. Marble raised cattle; pursued hunting, fishing, riding horses, and summer gardening; and enjoyed spending time with his family. Kenneth was a member of First Baptist Church Terry.

Mr. Marble is preceded in death by his parents, James Blair Marble and Thelma Bazoon Marble; sisters, Joyce Marble, Charline Marble Halverson, and Sylvia Marble Sistrunk; nephews, Terry Ray Simmons and Kevin Dukes; and great nephew Jerod Powers.

Mr. Marble's survivors include: his wife of 42 years, Frances Carolyn Flynt Marble and their three children, Dr. Andrea Denise Marble-Barrett, Melissa Carol Marble Warrington, and Clayton Dale Marble; Sons-in-law, Parker Barrett and Josh Warrington; granddaughters, Gracie Elizabeth Marble-Barrett and Margaret Claire Marble-Barrett; grandson, Zackary Owen Warrington. Siblings include brothers, Dr. James M. Marble and Bobby R. Marble and sister, Carolyn Ann Marble Simmons. Brothers-in-law, Leo Halverson and Odis Sistrunk; sisters-in-law, Gloria Marble and Dorothy Barrett; nephews Jody Sistrunk, Blair Marble, and Greg Dukes; nieces, Eliska Halverson Counts, Renee Marble, Cindy Sistrunk Knox, and Dawn Dukes Lee; great niece, Jamie Powers Sutherland; and great nephew, Hartmann Anderson Marble-Wright also survive him.

The family of Kenneth Edwin Marble wishes to thank the physicians and staff of CMMC and especially CVR nurses Andy, Pam, and Stefanie for their compassion and care during his four week hospitalization.
