KENNETH MCCARTY

Kenneth “Kenny“ Emerson McCarty was killed in a motorcycle accident June 30, 2007, near the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Mesa View Drive. The accident happened during a “Memorial Ride” for his brother Aaron Leroy “Roy” McCarty who was killed in a motorcycle accident just two months before on April 25. Kenny, upon noticing traffic had slowed to a stop in front of him, attempted to stop. To avoid hitting the rider in front of him, he veered into the center turn lane and lost control of his motorcycle. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Kenny was born Dec. 8, 1938, in Los Angeles. He was born almost completely deaf, yet was able to teach his children how to whistle. He was raised in Canoga Park. He attended, gained many lifelong friends, and graduated from California School for the Deaf in Riverside. This is where he met and later married Marie Ann Luta. They had two children, Deanna Marie in 1963 and Kenny Robin in 1969. Along with racing motorcycles, he loved classic cars and working on cars with friends.

Kenny is survived by his daughter, Deanna McCarty-Schiess of North Hollywood; his son, Kenny Robin McCarty of Orange; his sister, Vivian McGill of Idaho; his brother, Oron McCarty of Oregon and two grandchildren, Jerry and Sage.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, at Calvary Chapel High Desert, 14740 Eucalyptus Road in Hesperia. There will be a potluck at the church immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you donate to Calvary Chapel Deaf Ministries at the above address. They have been incredibly warm and welcoming.
