Kenneth Lynn ``Whitt'' Whittington

A disabled operator in Plant Services with Ormet Corp. and a lifelong fan of the Ole Miss Rebels, he passed away after a brief battle with bladder cancer at 11:55 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 61, a resident of Denham Springs and a native of Gloster, Miss.
Visiting at First Baptist Church of Head of Island, French Settlement, Monday, Aug. 30, from 8:30 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Leon Carpenter. Burial at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Gloster, Miss., at 3 p.m.
``Blessed are they that mourn; for the shall be comforted.'' Matthew 5:4.
Survived by a son, Kenneth P. Whittington and his wife, Holly, of Prairieville; daughters, Hope Whittington, of St. Amant, Tracy Geiger and her special friend, Brian Dupuy, of Gonzales, and Jennifer Elkins and her husband, Todd, of Prairieville; brother, Wayne Whittington and his wife, Pam, of Livingston; and five granddaughters, Sierra and Gillian Geiger, Emily and Abby Whittington, and Zoe Elkins.
Preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mary Lula Whittington; and an infant brother, Jimmie.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Whittington, Brian Dupuy, Wayne Whittington, Bobby Lofton, Sidney Becnel and Bryan Soulie. Honorary pallbearer is Calvin Cernich.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet and St. Joseph's Hospice for the compassionate care given to our Dad during this difficult time.
