Kenneth Ken Wayne Gober
Kenneth Wayne Gober, 77, of Brownwood passed away Friday, December 13, 2013, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center after a courageous 11-year battle with lymphoma.
Funeral services, under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home, will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday at Victory Life Church with Pastor Stan Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the East Lawn Cemetery. Kenneth Wayne Gober was born on September 19, 1936, to John Albert Gober and Emma Belle Everitt in Brownwood, TX. He was raised in Brownwood and Midland and graduated from Early High School in 1955. Following graduation, he joined the Naval Reserve and married Jeanette Flowers in 1956. They had two sons, Kent and Kirk Gober. He served full-time with the National Guard until 1980 when he retired and began careers in Real Estate, Insurance, Banking, Financial Planning, and Business. In 1974, he married Ann Scott who had four children, Toni Cartwright, Larry Scott, Doug Scott, and Susan Rumfield. Together, they established several local businesses including Country Stores #1 & #2, Scott’s Western Wear, and Early Laser Car Wash. After 28 years of marriage, Ann passed away in 2002. Mutual friends introduced Kenneth to Carolyn Moore in 2004, and the two were married on November 17th and established Nature’s Medicine Shoppe later that year. Ken was a man of great faith and was known for his kindness, generosity, strength and wisdom. He deeply loved his family and friends. His business acuity had a great impact on the Brownwood-Early community.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 9 years, Carolyn Gober; sister, Rita Miller and husband Roy; brother, E.J. Gober and wife, Selma; brother, Charles Douglas Gober and wife, Loretta; children: Kent Gober, Kirk Gober and wife Shannon, Toni Cartwright, Larry Scott and wife Debra, Doug Scott, and Susan Rumfield. Other surviving family members include 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, nephews.
