KENNETH WAYNE PITTMAN

Kenneth Wayne Pittman, age 77, began his Earthly Life in Silsbee, Texas on July 21, 1927, and went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2005, in Austin, Texas. His parents, now deceased, were Hubert and Essie Pittman.

He was a member of the Northwest Hills United Methodist Church. Kenneth met Maxine Bedford in Austin and the two married in Llano, Texas in 1953. The two shared a life of abundant love for 51 years. Kenneth served in the Korean War with the 127th Airborne Engineer Battalion as a parachutist and Gliderman. He received the Presidential Unit Citation, Occupation Medal in Japan and the Korean Service Medal with five Bronze Service Stars and Arrowhead.

Upon his return to the United States, he was employed by the State of Texas where he worked for approximately fourteen years. Kenneth then spent ten years working for a Liquor Wholesaler in sales. Kenneth was self-employed until his retirement in August 2004. Kenneth loved golf and travel with his friends, and participating in the activities of his grandchildren. Kenneth was a man of abounding generosity and kindness known to all whom he encountered. His service to others was continued until his departure to be with the Lord.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 51 years, Maxine Pittman of Austin, daughter, Karen McDonald and husband Paul of Flower Mound, Texas; daughter, Kendra Powell and husband Joe of Marble Falls, Texas; and four grandchildren, Kendall and Kelley McDonald, Kate and Clynt Powell. Other survivors include sisters, Anita, Barbara, Glenda, and Judy as well as one brother, Frank Pittman and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Pittman family wishes to express gratitude to the nurses and caregivers of Asera Care Hospice, Jackie Cullers and Reverend Sharon Melton. A special prayer of thanksgiving for Dr. Shubhada Shrikhande and staff.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., on Friday, January 21, 2005, at Weed-Corley- Fish Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 24, 2005 at 11:00 a.m., at Northwest Hills United Methodist Church.
