Keron B. (K.B.) Propst
TUSCALOOSA -- Keron B. (K.B.) Propst, age 87, of Tuscaloosa, died July 16, 2007, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Jim Headley officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Uley and Ernestine Babb Propst, his wife, Mary Riley Propst, his infant son, Keron B. Propst, Jr., daughter, Donna Kay Propst, brothers, Sam Propst (Gertrude) and Johnny Propst (Lois), and sister, Alree House.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Lary Propst of Tuscaloosa; stepsons, Joe Lary (Laura Sue) of Tuscaloosa, Eddie Lary (Sarah) of Tuscaloosa and Dan (Lavonna) Lary of Maryville, Tenn.; daughter, Deborah Sue Olmstead (Bill) of Warrior; brother, Jack Propst of Kennedy; sister, Kitty Jean Cooper (Leon) of Palmetto; grandchildren, Jeff Olmstead, Chad Olmstead, Joey Lary, Ben Lary, Tay Lary, Marla Lenox, Scott Lary, Kim Schreiber, Lori Lary, Pat Powell and Julie Richardson; and ten great grandchildren.
Mr. Propst served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later served 25 years as a police officer with the Tuscaloosa Police Department. He was also a farmer and a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association. He was a wonderful husband, father and stepfather and a friend to everyone. He will be deeply missed.
Pallbearers will be Joey Lary, Ben Lary, Scott Lary, Jeff Olmstead, Chad Olmstead and Eddie Propst.
Honorary pallbearers are Chief Ken Swindle and present and retired members of the Tuscaloosa Police Department, Tuscaloosa Fire Department, Tuscaloosa County Sheriffs Department, the Lary family of Northport, alumni of Palmetto High School in Pickens County, Adolph South, Henry Causey, Frances Crow, Lou Cabaniss, Charlotte Wyatt and Momma Gentry, Myrtle Hubbard, Rena Brown, Margaret Bagwell, Lavater Buck, Ed and Virginia Morgan, Danny Moore, Frances Logan, Henry Rosborough, George and Sarah Burns, Ralph Wilson, Jo Isaacs, Maudell Yarborough, Dot O'Quinn, Mike Tunnell, Cleveland Winn and staff of Amedisys Home Health Care, Dr. Ronald McCormack, Dr. Reginald Motley, Dr. Brian Wilhite, Dr. Jeffrey Anderson, and nurses and staff of DCH Regional Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Tuscaloosa Police Athletic League.
