Kevin Ray Rutledge

Funeral services for Kevin Ray Rutledge, 36 of West Monroe were held at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in West Monroe on July 29 with Rev. Woody Rimes officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatirck Funeral Home in West Monroe. Rutledge died July 25 at his residence in West Monroe after a sudden illness.

He was a resident of West Monroe and an employee of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Department. He was a graduate of West Monroe High School and attended ULM where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a member of Mr. Vernon Baptist Church and was a member of Souled Out for Christ Gospel Quartet. Rutledge coached Dixie Youth Baseball and was a devoted husband, father, son and brother. He had a deep abiding faith in God and enjoyed praising the Lord in song. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and lover of watersports. He will be remembers for his gentle, generous nature and total devotion to his children.

Rutledge was preceded in death by his grandfather, J.D. Weems and Jimmy Rutledge.

He is survived by his grandmothers, Corrine Weems and Helon Rutledge of West Monroe; his wife, Christy Keirsey Rutledge of West Monroe, son Jarod Powell and daughters Claire and Emily Rutledge also of West Monroe; his mother, Gloria Weems Albritton of West Monroe, father and step-mother, Bobby and Malva Rutledge of Monroe; father0in-law and mother-in-law Harold and Bernice Keirsey, Sr. of West Monroe; brother-in-law and sister, Jarret and Tamara Spurgeon of Georgia; brother-in-law and wife Harold and Susan Keirsey, Jr. of West Monroe; brother-in-law and wife Chris and Kim Salsbury of Downsville.

Pallbearers were Roy Davis, Kelly Mathus, Don Turney, Todd Cummings, Stacie Antie, Chris Salsbury, Tom Hargrove and Rene Canales. Honorary Pallbearers were Sheriff Richard Fewell and the co-workers that he loved, deputies of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Department.
