L. A. Krohn dies Saturday at 50
L. A. Krohn, 50, former administrative assistant for business at Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College, died unexpectedly at his home in Wiggins about 2:15 a.m. Saturday.
Services for Mr. Krohn, who retired from Gulf Coast last November after 20 years, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Wiggins. The pastor, Rev. James Street, will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Park Cemetery.
Mr. Krohn is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtis Stewart Krohn; two sons, Larry A. and Terry D.; a daughter, Miss Genene Krohn, all of Wiggins; one sister, Mrs. George McHenry, Gulfport, and two brothers, Allen B., Jackson, and Harold, Tucson, Ariz.
A native of Wiggins, Mr. Krohn joined Gulf Coast in 1953 after teaching and coaching at Wiggins High School and at St. Martin's in Jackson County, where he was also principal.
He was a graduate of Perkinston Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned his B.S. and B.A. degrees.
Mr. Krohn was a past president of the Mississippi Junior College Business Managers' Association and a member of the Southern Association of College and University Business Officials, the American Schools Business Officials Association and the Mississippi Education Association.
He was a colonel on the staff of Gov. William Waller.
The body will remain at Moore Funeral Home, Wiggins, until time for services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the L. A. Krohn Memorial Scholarship, Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College, central office, Perkinston.
