Mrs. Oscar E. Downs

Mrs. Oscar E. Downs, 32, resident of Victoria for the past 11 years, died at 8:20 a.m. Sunday in a local hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Downs, who made her home at 1510 Travis St., was born in Columbia, La., and had lived in Devine, Texas, before moving to Victoria. She was a member of Second Baptist Church.

The body was sent to Columbia, La. by McCabe-Carruth Funeral Home for funeral services there, with Riser & Son Funeral Home in charge. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery in Columbia.

Surviving are her husband, Oscar E. Downs, one son, Michael Downs, and one daughter, Charlotte, all of Victoria; her parents, B. L. West and Mrs. Mollie E. West both of Columbia; one sister, Miss Maxine West of Dallas; and two brothers, Charles of Shreveport, La., and Travis of Monroe, La.
