Lafayette Dickens Succumbs Saturday; Rites Held Sunday

Funeral services for Lafayette F. Dickens, 72, of Floyd, who died at his home Saturday following a lengthy illness, were conducted from the Alabama Baptist church, Arcadia, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

The Rev. Hudson, pastor, officiated at the services and interment followed in the church cemetery under the direction of Catron-Gay Funeral home.

Mr. Dickens had been a resident of Floyd since 1918, moving here from Raleigh county, Miss., to engage in farming activities.

He is survived by his wife, Laura; a daughter, Mrs. Velta Huey, Longview, Texas; three half-brothers, W. C. Upton, Princeton, H. J. Upton, Princeton, R. H. Upton, Shreveport; two sisters, Mrs. Leona Padgett, Crane, Texas, Mrs. Etta Wright, Hondo, Texas, and four grandchildren.
