Lanet Keen Read
Lanet Keen Read went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, after a long bout with cancer. She was born Oct. 18, 1921, in Burke, the daughter of Jim Keen and Cora Arrington.
On Jan. 20, 1939, Lanet married Louis ``Dock'' Read. They had 53 wonderful years together in Lufkin. She loved to fish, play 42 and dominoes, was a beauty operator and life member of DAV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Cora Keen; husband, Louis ``Dock'' Read; brother, Earl Keen; and sisters, Faye Davenport, Jewel Bowen and Little Doris Keen.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Barbara Read; grandchildren, Mike Read and wife Leigh Ann, Julie Coleman and husband Billy, and Brian Read and wife Lisa; great-grandchildren, Haleigh and Katie Read, Maggie and Sarah Coleman and Austin Ray Read; nieces, Carleanne Tognetty, Billie Smith, Betty Goins, Lisa Strauser, Lara Aston and Julie Woolsey.
Expressions of sympathy in Mrs. Read's memory may be made to Ryan Chapel United Methodist Church, 555 FM 2497, Diboll, TX 75941; or Cedar Lake Hospice of Corsicana, 625 N. Main St., Corsicana, TX 75110.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staffs of Heritage Oaks Retirement Village, Cedar Lake Hospice, and very special friends, Fred and Leila Rasmussen, all of Corsicana.
Services for Mrs. Read will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Ryan Chapel Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Faulk officiating. Interment will follow in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian Read, Mike Read, Tim Tognetty, Bobby Mott, David Mott and Linwood Smith.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Gipson Funeral Home, 1515 S. Chestnut, Lufkin.
