COLFAX -- Mrs. Laura Newton Preuett, 80, of Colfax died Thursday morning at her residence. She was a native of Smith County, Miss.
Survivors include her husband, George W. Preuett of Colfax; four sons, W. L. Newton of Sulphur Springs, Tex., Leon Newton of Lake Charles, Frank Newton of Little Rock, Mark Newton of Colfax; one step-son, Ray Preuett of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Mrs. Jimmie Ledford of Valley Station, Ky., Mrs. Louise Donelson of Galveston, Tex.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Lois Maxwell of Bentley and Mrs. Vernice Pinell of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Monroe Arender of Mississippi and Barney Arender of Slidell; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Johnson of Monroe, Mrs. Nancy Richards of Dry Prong, and Mrs. Lois Drain of Hattiesburg, Miss.; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Bentley with the Rev. Barnette Ates and Rev. Harvey Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery under direction of Hixson Bros.
