Services for Mrs. Lawless Held Monday
Funeral services for Mrs. Vashti Jay Lawless of Baytown, Texas, were held at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church near La Tex Monday at 4 p.m. with burial in the church cemetery.
Officiating at the service were the Rev. Mouzon Biggs, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Jimmy Johnson of Baytown, a nephew of the deceased.
Mrs. Lawless, a native of Panola County, died in a Houston hospital Saturday after several weeks illness.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James Rude of Baytown; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Jay of DeBerry; eight sisters, Mrs. Mary Johnson of Baytown, Mrs. Jim Studdard and Miss Cecil Jay, both of DeBerry, Mrs. Sybil Mobley of Marshall, Mrs. Nell Thompson and Mrs. Mildred Cochrane of Tyler, Mrs. Irma Cochrane and Mrs. Lena Sherman of California; two brothers, Bramlett Jay of Hallsville and Robert Jay of Dallas, and two granddaughters.
