Lavada Burdett
Lavada Burdett (nee Crudup), of Lubbock, passed on February 27, 2009 at her home, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous 14 year battle with cancer. She was 79 years old.
She was born in Stanton on October 17, 1929 to Willie Edgar and Nora May Crudup. Lavada attended Prairie Lee grade school and the Watson School of Music in Midland and was a graduate of Big Springs High School in 1947. Lavada was a resident of Germania before she married James Burdett on December 6, 1948 at the First Methodist Church in Lubbock. She has been a resident of Lubbock for the past 62 years, where she worked for the accounting firm of Bolinger, Gilber, Seager and Moss and was a member of Ausbury Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 60 years, James Burdett; son, Jimmy Burdett and wife Terri of Lubbock, Mark Burdett of Franklin Lakes, N.J.; beloved grandchildren, Amber Williams and husband Rodney of Springfield, Justin Burdett and fiance Tracy of Lubbock; beloved great grandchildren, Sunny and Caden Williams of Springfield, Quest Burdett of Lubbock; and her loving sister, Avalene Powell of Lubbock. Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made in Lavada's memory to Meals on Wheels or the American Cancer Society.
