L. C. SMITH

Lawrence Cleveland Smith, 72, died Monday at 8:30 p.m. in a local clinic following a heart attack suffered Sunday at his home in Pendorff community. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Harmony Baptist church.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from Sumrall Funeral Home. Conducting the service will be the Rev. Bruce Hilbun and the Rev. T. E. Fant. Interment will be in Sandersville cemetery, with nephews serving as pallbearers.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Emma Hawkins Smith; four daughters, Mrs. John B. Lloyd, Hooper, Colo., Mrs. C. O. Upton, Laurel, Mrs. W. C. Meek, Hattiesburg, and Mrs. C. J. Howse, Laurel; one son, W. Irvin Smith, Clinton; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild; one sister, Mrs. E. D. Hawkins, Laurel; and one brother, Hugh Smith, Columbia.

Sumrall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, and the body will lie in a chapel within Sumrall's until the hours of the funeral.
