Lee McEachern Duggins

Services for Lee McEachern Duggins, 96, of Greenwood, who died of heart failure Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at his home, were at 3 p.m. Sunday at Valley Hill Methodist Church in Carrollton.

Mr. Duggins was a retired self-employed farmer and businessman. He and his wife were co-owners of Mary Lee Nursery and Day-Care for 10 years. He was a native of the Centerville community in Carroll County. He was a descendant of Greenwood Leflore.

He loved his dogs and was an avid coon hunter. He also raised horses when he was younger.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Mims Duggins.

He is survived by three daughters, Lomie Duggins Jones and Charlotte Duggins Turner, both of Greenwood, and Bessie Duggins Strickland of Columbia, Tenn.; a son, Harold Duggins of Greenwood; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Reidis Nash officiated at the services.

Burial was in Valley Hill Methodist Church Cemetery in Carrollton.

Pallbearers were Kenny Mims, Charles Reed, Bobby Miller, Dent Turner, Charles Mims, Mark Beckwith, Jimmy Mims, Bill Strickland and Bernard Duggins.

Honorary pallbearers were Stacy Joiner, Dr. Jenay Neely and the Sta-Home Health Care staff.

Visitation was from 2 p.m. until the time of the services Sunday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Valley Hill Methodist Church or to the donor's favorite charity.

Wilson & Knight Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
