Lee H. Byrd Dies In Crash, Rites Saturday
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at three o'clock in the Lone Pine Baptist Church for Lee H. Byrd, 67, of St. Landry.
Mr. Byrd was fatally injured in a crash four miles east of Alexandria on U.S. Hwy 71 at 4:45 p.m. Thursday.
State police said a car driven by Charles Carter, 20, Cloutierville, rounded a curve, went over the center line and collided almost head-on with the car driven by Byrd.
Carter was seriously injured and was taken to Baptist Hospital in Alexandria.
Mr. Byrd is survived by his widow, the former Alice Emmons; one daughter, Mrs. Ilford Leger of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren; four brothers and one sister.
Interment was in the Lone Pine cemetery.
